The word Recioto comes from the word “recitium” that refers to the highest part of the grapes, the most exposed to sunlight, therefore with a higher sugar content.

Tasting Notes

Dried apricot with floral notes. The minerality on the palate comes from the volcanic soil from Gambarella’s slopes not as heavy as a Vin Santo this wine leaves a refined creamy aftertaste. Precise and pure leaving you wanting more.

Wine Characteristics

Recioto di Gambellara Classico, known locally as the jewel of the vineyard, is made with 100% Garganega grapes indigenous to the region.

Dating back to medieval times, Cassiodoro, Minister to King Teodorico, referred to this wine in 530ad as “a truly worthy spice that boast of Italy”, adding: “It is pure for singular flavor, golden color, the sweetness and softness, its density is strengthened it feels like a fleshy liquid or a drink to eat.”

Food Pairing

On its own as an aperitif, snack foods, an array of sweet deserts or if feeling ambitious try it with strawberries coated in zabaglione! For best results, serve chilled.
